About Us

We dig up the stories India forgot to tell itself.

IndianScoop is an independent editorial team obsessed with the untold — the origin stories behind the food, films, and cultural moments that shaped the subcontinent. No PR. No fluff. Just the real story.

Why We Exist

Here's what bothered us: India has 5,000 years of stories and most of them are buried under either mythology or marketing. The real ones — the accidental, the absurd, the quietly brilliant — were nowhere.

Nobody was writing about the Punjabi refugee who invented butter chicken in a panic. Nobody had tracked the samosa's 600-year detour through Central Asia. Nobody had explained why A.R. Rahman built his first studio under a stairwell. The stories existed. They just hadn't been told properly.

"Every Indian dish is a refugee, a smuggler, or a love letter. None of them stayed where they started."

So we started IndianScoop from Bengaluru and Mumbai — two cities that run on chai, chaos, and an obsessive need to know where things come from. We are writers, researchers, and recovering overthinkers who believe that the best stories aren't invented. They're excavated.

We cover food origin stories, Bollywood's hidden history, and the cultural moments that shaped modern India — with the rigour of journalism and the pace of a reel. Long enough to be worth your time. Short enough to finish before the chai goes cold.

What We Cover
01 — Food
Origin stories on your plate
Every dish has a history that's stranger than its recipe. We trace where Indian food actually came from — partition kitchens, royal courts, port cities, and the occasional culinary accident.
02 — Bollywood
The stories behind the stories
Not gossip. Not rankings. The decisions, accidents, and moments of stubbornness that produced the songs, scenes, and stars that defined Indian cinema.
03 — Culture
India, examined
The dabbawalas. The Hakka community of Kolkata. The Six Sigma of street food. The cultural systems and forgotten communities that make India function in ways nobody expected.
